A little about me
My first language is not English, it's Dutch. I was born in France and my parents moved back to The Netherlands when I was still very little. My four brothers and I spent part of our childhood in Maastricht and part in Breda. Some of my stories have clear links to The Netherlands, or are situated there, like "Heart's Choice'.
In my early twenties I spent almost two years in Northern New South Wales, Australia. The Reef was inspired by my memories of the people and places of New South Wales and Queensland's Goldcoast and Surfer's Paradise. If you ever get the chance to visit Australia: GO; it truly is an amazing country.
I moved to the United States in 2004. I first lived in Oklahoma for a few years, but migrated North and ended up in New Hampshire where I live in a small, rural town. I love it here and I share my home with two rescued dogs: a Pit Bull and a Shi-Zhu. I am very passionate about animal rescue, especially Pit Bulls because they have bad rep they don't deserve. However, I do love all animals, except ticks and mosquitoes.
I have a very busy job in the healthcare field (I am a Registered Nurse) and on my days off I like the quiet atmosphere of the woods, lakes and mountains. Nature is where I recharge my batteries and I am so fortunate to be surrounded by it. I love reading, music, listening to the birds and crickets, playing with my dogs, writing, photography, cooking and baking.
